Zyrxy's art contest~

I decided to judge a small art contest, open for anyone and however many people want to try. Here's the guidelines:

- Must be of either a canine or feline, can be as mythical as you want, i.e. wings and such are ok.
- Must have some color
- Backgrounds are not needed
- Image can be drawn by hand, mouse, or tablet, as long as its your own work.

Images will be judged according to:

- Anatomy
- Details
- Overall appearance

There aren't any prizes, sorry, this is just for fun! You can use a reference if you want, to help with details, anatomy, color, ect. Any questions, just go ahead and ask. Just try your best!

If anyone wants, I will help give anyone tips on how to draw animals like cats or dogs, like I said, just ask!

I'll enter mine, or more soon. How many entries can there be per member?

However many you want, it can be 1, 2, or 20 ^^

A very recent drawing, see date. I'm thinking of a name.. Maybe Sky Play? I'm thinking of the wolf being a Goddess, which is why it's so hard to think of a name. The golden eagle is the God of eagles. Both of which are unnamed currently, ideas appreciated!

Very good! Your color style stands out, because I see you shaded them, and colored neatly. Anatomy is pretty good too! Your wolf head's look like the only thing that is a bit off. Heres something quick I made to show basic features on a wolf's head




My favorite is that one with the bird in it, and ok Icestar, theres no slots anyways, anyone, and everyone can come and show their pictures

Heh, knew I'd get the head wrong! I made the eyes that way.. Because I'm awful at making really realistic eyes. Fore-head, eh, I was bored and scribbling. And noses I'm not to goods at, ears I'm okay at, but not quite.

if you just put more of a dip on the nose bridge, make the eyes rounder, and make the head more plump and round it'll look loads better. Otherwise you have a good basic idea at wolf anatomy

Updated things..
-Better head, merging into the body better and more realisticly.
-Rounder eyes.
-More details around the eyes to make it look more natural.
-Better nose.

Yours is pretty good too, twilight. The chin is maybe a bit big but thats fine
Detail wise it's ok, but you can add more to show fur. For exeample adding little jagged "fur" lines around the neck area, sometimes at the base or inside of the ears, and the fluff at the sides of their face, which you have. I like the eyes and nose, the eyes are well detailed

Ya i like the seccond one WW, i see you changed the forehead shape, eyes, and nose and even made it fluffier, i like fluffy wolves ^^

Yep, anything in the cat or dog family will work snow. BTW it looks great!

Wow, snowest! That tiger looks really great, I love the colors! All I can say about it is the anatomy is a tad off, but anatomy is one of the harder things about art, in my opinion. I can remember when I was a little younger, I used to draw tigers all the time, and mine almost looked exactly like that.
I wish I had a recent picture of a tiger i did, but I don't =[ But I will say that in the progress of only one school year, I improved immensely, simply by looking at tiger photos and studying anatomy and fur pattern.

A tip or two for you, snowest:
- Fur is a very difficult thing to do. When i draw fur, use my pencil as if I really am creating fur I draw individual lines/fur strands, and I draw them to the length they really are. I'll admit that I can get impatient at times and improvise using sloppy scribble-like lines to represent fur, but it never turns out as well as it does when I take my time. Patience really is a virtue. Also, make sure you draw the fur in the correct direction, it makes a big difference in the final project.
- Be very, "free handed" with your whiskers. Dont be tense or anything when you draw them, use swift, light strokes.

thanks and thanks for the tips! you might not belive me but this is only the third tiger ive ever drawn! the first looked like a wolf with tiger patterns o.0 but i was useing a tutorial. The second looked like a tiger kinda but was REALLY crappy, and then there this one!

Hmm, I should've been more active when this contest was going on. I'm going to close this too, however, and maybe later open up a new topic somewhere for sharing your pictures like this If you guys still are looking for tips to improve and such.
