On my Own

Flamheart walked tiredly through the woods. The wolves had rejected her. why can't we just all be friends? Flamheart thought. There's always some bad wolves. they were just being careful. Knox thought back. whatever. Flameheart thought.
Flameheart settled down on a high rock. The trees' branches poked at her fur, and she shifted. Knox landed down, turning into a small mouse. He curled up in an old bird's nest. Flameheart finally fell asleep.

Flameheart woke up to find Knox nudging her eagerly. She awoke. "Wha-"she said sleepily. Knox cut her off and motioned for them to go to the edge of the lake. She followed after him, noticing that he was in his sparrow form. He settled down on a branch noicelessly, and then pionted his beak in a direction.
Flameheart could just make out a few wolves sniffing around on the other side.I wonder what they are doing Flamheart asked silently. Knox answered with a tap from his beak. He flew up to survey the woods. He came back down and thought to her, They are sniffing around the spot where we were yesterday. What do you suppose they are doing?
She looked at the wolves with dissapproval, but truly wanted to be with them. She and Knox went off, going back to their rock. Flameheart lay down, not wanting to think about the strange wolves. Knox thought the same, and changed into a kangaroo rat, curling up on her head once more.

Nightwalker Kept his nose to the ground as he led the group to the source of the the scent he had been tracking. Deilila was walked beside him, steering him by rocks and trees as he focused on tracking the female. as thety made their into the forest thhe scent became much stronger, it wouldn't be a problem finding the wolf now with such a clear scent. he lifted his nose from the ground and looked ahead of him judging by their scents they were only a few feet in front of them. he turned his head and looked up at Keovi "is she the one your looking for?" he asked

Arrow came up to the wolves with Zena by his side "Hello, i am Arrow" Arrow said with a sleek smile as Zena panted beside him
"And i am Zena" She said in between pants

Knox looked up from his short nap. He peered into the bushes and squinted his eyes, seeing fur through them. Some wolves have arrived he thought to Flameheart who was now awake. She lifted her head, making Knox wobble, and grab onto her ears. She waited for them to approach.

Iceheart had sayed close to night walker "Wow, i probably couldn't do that for so long, moving this fast" she murmered loud enough for Nightwalker to hear. "Hello", she nodded to the wolf but quickly ducked her head because she had forgotten that the pack omega shouldn't talk that freely.

Keovi stepped ahead of Nightwalker, taking his place at the front of the pack. " Excellent job, Nightwalker, that is the wolf I ment, and looks like you've found someone else too." He said quietly, watching the wolf called Arrow introduce himself. keovi looked over his shoulder at Mudpelt to make sure she was there with him, then spoke to Arrow, for the moment waiting to acknowledge the she-wolf. " Arrow, is it? I'm Keovi, these are the wolves of the Goldenleaf pack. Maybe you havn't yet noticed our borders. " He said, raising the fur over one of his eyes slightly. " But It's my fault for not yet scent marking them, I can't say you were warned. " He tried to smile but it didnt show very much, his tail suddenly rose slightly, remembering how he shouldnt be showing any signs of weakness to these wolves.

Takara came up beside him and cautiously approached the other wolf's anima to sniff delicately at the air around her. " I've never seen you here before." She just said, returning to Keovi's side. "We can't waste much time, The alpha only wishes to know if you will leave our territory peacefully or with a fight. Unless you care to join us... he is very accepting." She said for him. Keovi thanked her quickly through his thoughts and then turned to face the other wolf. " And you too. Sorry we may have frightened you earlier." He added.

Mudpelt followed Keovi as he approached the new wolves. She rested her tail on his back for comfort and then looked at the wolves with curiosity. She slowly saw the makings of a true and strong pack. Now she felt no threat at all from the female. All she wanted from her was her to join.
" I'm am truly sorry if we came off defensive. But we are new and we just want our pack to be safe. Now that we've had time to gather our thoughts, I think Keovi would agree with me in saying that you are welcome to join, friend," Mudpelt said warmly. Kuna on Mudpelt's shoulder nodded in agreement.

Arrow knew that he needed to stand tall with a pack, he had smelled the sent markers and had wanted to join. Arrows Anima, Zena, looked up at Takara. She knew she had to speak for Arrow "Arrow and I smelled your borders and wanted to join your pack, you see we are loners and wish to not be that way" Zena said standing tall. Arrows eyes were kind "Yes, what Zena said is true."

Keovi felt himself relaxing a little more as Mudpelt came up to speak, with her tail resting on his back. When she finished and Arrow had his saw Keovi wagged his tail slightly, barking a quick welcome to the pack before turning his gaze on The she-wolf. " And you then? If you wish not to, then I'll have to ask you to move on, and out of these forests. " he said, no hint of hostility, just slight concern and curiosity.
Takara slipped her gaze passed the she-wolf, and watched a squirrel far behind her make its way down from a tree. Her ears flicked forward and eyes locked on as the other wolves and anima went on.

Flameheart thought about this offer. It might be better to just forget her sister and get her own life. A nice, safe, warm pack. Flameheart reached her decision, and disscussed it with Knox, who immediately agreed. "I will join your pack," Flameheart said. Knox leaped down to the ground and sniffed around. He took note of all of the other animas around.

Zena looked at Arrow and Arrow looked at Flameheart and then Keovi "Thanks Keovi" he said warmly with Zena by his side

Nightwalker turned his attention away from Keovi and the other wolves, he had no intrest in listeining to Mudplet and Keovi try to add more members to the pack. Besides he could smell the scent of a mouse near by, stalking a mouse would be better then listening to them. he followed the scent to what smelled like a small bundle of leaves. he pushed his nose into the leaves, and as he did he heard a rustle then the sound small paws against the earth. he guessed it was the mouse and chased after it, the sound of its paws grew louder as he gave chase. Nightwalker tried to jugde how far the mouse in front of him by its smell and sound of its tiny paws, he leaped in an attemp to catch the mouse but he missjudged how far it was. his paw was just a bit short from catcthing the mouse, his ears twitched as he listened to the mouse run underneath a bush.

Keovi let out a huff of air, with it, leaving a lot of stress. Now he was comfortable that no more wolves were wandering around the territory. 'That seemed really easy, I never thought so many wolves would voluntarily follow me.' He said to Takara, who's gaze was still locked onto the squirrel. ' Its no surprise to me. I knew deep down you had it in ya. Look how much better you've gotten, your a whole new wolf! You'll be fine.' she smiled lightly, removing her gaze from the squirrel only to look at Keovi and see him return the gesture. " That squirrel is mine, now." She chuckled with a hint of deviousness on her tongue as she jumped over the leaves and into the nearest tree. from there she ran across the branches silently, making her way over to the squirrel. Keovi turned to push his muzzle into Mudpelt's fur. "Okay, I'm finished with my own chores. Anything left now?" He asked her, taking a quick peek at the sky as he reminded himself that it was almost dark.

Mudpelt turned to Keovi and nuzzled him. His fur was stragely warm. Was it that cold? Mudpelt shivered as she knew she would be doing alot now that it was winter.
" I don't so," Mudpelt said answering Keovi. She looked up at the sky and saw that it was getting dark. Would they make it in time?

Keovi sighed, in a relieved sort of way. "Okay," he said to Mudpelt, " Well its not completely dark yet, so let's find a good place for us all to stay. Maybe that hollowed out tree can be a good place to start with. It's somewhere around here." He said, looking each direction, trying to remember what path it was he took to get there. Takara was right above the squirrel in the tree that it was foraging by. Her white fangs lit up as her mouth was opened slightly, but no words came out through there. 'Bark.' 'What?' ' I said, Bark, woof, howl make a noise.' Keovi rolled his eyes and opened his jaws in a mix of a bark and snarl, cutting the silent forest and even making the squirrel jump and scramble up the tree, and into Takara's waiting grip. She climbed headfirst down the trunk, with the squirrel dangling from her jaws, just as big as she was. " Caught it just before it went to his den." Her muffled voice came out through the fur. " Yea.. well lets go everyone, finding a denning place." Keovi reported to the wolves of his new pack.

a few paw steps through a thin deer trail led them to the same tree Keovi first met Mudpelt in just a few minutes. He stopped in the small clearing, sniffing around at the ground. The old tree was hollowed out just enough for three wolves to squeeze in, the rest would have to rest in the thick bushes and plants surrounding the tree. Keovi stuck his nose into the space inside the tree, and took his front paws and dug out most of the leaves, scattering them behind him, but making it more roomier inside. The stale scent of dirt and leaves filled his nose but by now he was used to it. Takara placed her squirrel under some leaves and covered it up with a careful paw. " Sleep around here and you'll be protected by the wind, its one of the thickest parts of the forest around here. And chock full of prey, if your hungry." She called over her shoulder to the others.

Flameheart stayed where she was since her new pack was close. Knox seemed to relax too. He still seemed curious, and so he looked closely at the other animas. He changed into a fox, a form he hadn't taken before but one time. Knox lay down at the foot of Flameheart's rock, and rested his head on his paws. Flameheart could tell he was still awake. Shortly after, she fell into a silent sleep.

"Come on, over here!" Iceheart called to Nightwalker. "Come by me." She curled up with Ky as a pine marten and was toasty warm as she slept...

Nightwalker started to shiver from the cold he could no longer feel the suns warmth and knew it was getting late. Deilila came to his side and leaned against him to help warm him. "come on Nightwalker Keovi is going to led us to another den" Nightwalker nodded his head and let her guide him along. Nightwalker was getting sleepy and a bit tired of walking, he was glad when they all came to a stop. he heard Iceheart call him over, he didn't know why she felt she had to be right up under him all the time but he was cold so and a bit too sleepy to complain about it. he and Delila walked over to them and curled by their sides

Iceheart was haunted by stormkit once more. "You know you want him, so go and get him when the time is right. Nightwalker's face appeared, and then everything went black. She had no more dreams....

Keovi sat down by his den entrance for a while as he waited for the others to settle. His golden gaze swept over every wolf, from Mudpelt, to Nightwalker, to Iceheart, and pausing in the bushes where Flameheart would have appeared. He figured she wouldn't come just yet, they had only just been joined as one pack, there were still some loose ends to fix. He noticed the other male, Arrow didn't follow as quickly either. Neither surprised him though. His eyes flickered over Takara for a moment, watching her sniff cautiously around her burial spot then pad over to Kuna, changing into a tiny kitten and pawing at his feet playfully. Now his attention went to the forest, and his ears shifted to the various sounds of owls, birds, and raccoons coming down from their resting spots. Finnaly when he felt everything was just fine, and his pack felt content to sleep, he turned tail into he den and used his nose to shift the leaves into somethings resembling a nest, snug enough to keep him and Mudpelt warm.

Mudpelt padded into the make shift camp and the memories hit her full on. The sad memories of being alone and cold even if the tempature was extremly warm at the time. But then, thankfully, came the memories od the first time she had seen Keovi. She hadnt yet known the connection that would soon be inplaced, but she hadnt seen someone in so long that it didnt matter if she saw him for a second or a life time.
Mudpelt pulled herself out of the memory flash and padded over to Keovi. She found the spot that Keovi had made in the corner of the den.
" I was just remembering the what went on here," Mudpelt said.

Keovi fell silent as he went through that same scene in his own mind, first thing coming to mind being the sight of the warm sun on her fur, making it look almost golden. But then his face broke into a smile. " Heh, ya. We ate all your food, didn't we?" He met her gaze, his eyes bright. " If it wernt for my hungry stomach that day I probably never would've met you. "
" Your hungry stomach? Wasn't I the one who made you go talk to her in the first place?" Came Takara's teasing voice through the entrance of the den.
" Well ya, only because you were so keen on stealing their food. "
"I didn't steal it, I asked, didn't I?"
" Barely." Keovi laughed. He laid down, resting right beside Mudpelt, and resting his chin on her back. Her sweet scent filled his nose and almost put him to sleep just then, but Takara yawned right near his face and forced his to gag by the smell. Takara stuck a tiny tongue out at him and changed back into a Pine Marten, bounding over to him and mudpelt and climbing right on top of them both and resting in their fluffy winter coats.
