Whitefeather trudged through the thick layer of fall leaves. She loved the colors they took to, and loved to jump into them like a pup. Ninko would fly as far down the path as he could go and then settle on a high branch to wait for her to catch up. Whitefeather would rarely open her wings to fly, and Ninko was always patient for her. His wings quivered in the wind as it got stronger. Whitefeather sat down to rest, and Ninko swooped down to perch on a low limb.

He batted his wings, and cleaned them of the dust in the wind. It has been a quiet morning, he said slowly. She nodded in agreement. Ninko quickly formed into a white tiger, for it took Whitefeather's breath away whenever he changed his form. Ninko curled up in the bright leaves, as a swift wind blew through, shaking his furry ears around.

Whitefeather curled up beside him. They both had had a long day, walking back home from where they buried Whitefeather's parents at. Every month, Whitefeather would want to go and see them, feel their presence nearby. They were near home, but too weary to go the whole way.

Besides, it took them a while to find their home among all of the many trees there. It was a large hole in the ground, or what her father had called a cave.

They had both hoped to reach it before they got tired, but strength could drain easily if you hadn't eaten yet. Whitefeather couldn't bear to kill wild animals. She had once told Ninko, Their life is as valueable as ours. They are the ones who could come to our rescue someday. Ninko secretly had eaten a few mice, but having a sensitive conscience, he didn't eat aouther one. Whitefeather only eats herbs which she finds in the autumn forest from time to time.

So they dozed off for a while, blending slowly into the forest.

(new day) sorry for double posting)
Whitefeather awoke. She shook off the leaves that always seemed to be there. Ninko awoke too, still in his white tiger form. He growled at a bird that was in a high tree, chirping its loudest.

Whitefeather dug up a small plant, that would give them a small amount of energy. She split it in half, having one for herself and giving the other to Ninko, who grudingly ate it. They both finally made it to that certain tree. It had lost its leaves since they left it, half a moon ago. There was no intruder scent nearby luckily. The hole was just sized for a wolf, but hidden in the tree roots, where only few wolves could see it.

Whitefeather climbed in to her home. There was moss on the ground a little scattered. Ninko usually moved around a lot when he slept. The cave was big enough to hold five full grown tigers, stretched out.

Ninko changed into his owl form, fluttering in. He rested on his perch, hearing the faint sounds of the outside world. The cave had small holes in the top of it, but was protected by smaller rocks piled up. The night time nature aromas and sounds echoed through the cave at night, warning them f upcoming things. They were also protected by the rain. It was the perfect place.

Whitefeather headed over to where her herbs were. They were spread out and sorted neatly, ready to be in use at any time. She looked over at Ninko with sad eyes. Will we always be alone? Her anima looked back at her with the same expression she had. They both suffered from not seeing others anymore. They both came together, thinking the same thoughts.

They napped and listened to nature for most of the day, oblivious to the world around them.

Whitefeather awoke the same time as Ninko. His brown eyes shown as if they were full of energy. Whitefeather stood up painfully from laying down so long. She searched the cave in the darkness and then finally found her herbs. She managed to eat all of a white flower and Ninko had said he wasn't hungry. She squeezed through the hole from the cave a few minutes later, when she caught a scent of a strange animal.
She could picture a big black bear rounding up all of her saved berries to eat, and laying down in her den. It was already decided between wolf and anima that it was time to go somewhere more protected. It felt time to move into a pack at last.
