"Snowest swallowed rotten blood." Iceheart answered. "And we need to help him." She called to Kia "We need to clear her lungs and give her the herbs. Make her swallow water, then give her the herbs. They will help with her cough too." Iceheart knew she needed to heal herself soon, but she must attend to everyone else. She gritted her teeth, and clenched her frot paws against the pain.

the deer pulled away from Nightwalker's grip he was ready to take another lung at the deer but the scent of the second deer monetarily confused him. he wasn't sure which deer to go after until he caught the scent of blood coming from on of the deer. Nightwalker bolted after the deer, Delila alerted him to ever tree in his way so he would be able to maneuver around time without losing to much speed. he ran followed the deers to an open area and smelled Keovi's scent near by. he skidded to a stop right next to Keovi and perked his ears up for the sound of the deer. it sounded like it was quite a ways ahead of them. he growled lowly and put his nose to the ground he could clear scent the deers blood any wolf could easily track this deer. he turned to face Keovi, "lets track it, it should be able to get very far with its injuries we could just follow it until it tires out.

Koara twitched an ear and paw, dreaming now of chasing rabbits, around and around the camp, but every time she would get close, it would jump away. She growled in her dream, forcing a tiny growl from her in the den too. Kartal was woken by one of her kicking paws, but only looked dully at her and laid his head back down to sleep, curling his tail around him as well.

"What? oh it's you Kyota. She needs sticks?" He asked, sounding thoroughly baffled, but he looked around the ground at his paws quickly. " Uhh, I'm a little busy, we were just- Nightwalker! Good, your through. " He trotted to the black wolf's side with his tail wagging. " You and delila make a great team. " He marveled, He watched as he brought his nose to the gorund, knowing that he of all wolves would be perfect to track down prey. " That's what I was thinking too." He agreed at the suggestion of following it. " We'll need to do that now then, sorry Kyota. Takara will help you though." He said, sighing a little. Takara looked up from beside Kuna, and though her tail fell to the ground, she nodded, and went obediantly to the other anima's aide.

Now the plains wolf lowered his muzzle to the ground as well, narrowing in on the scent of blood, and then raised his nose to the sky again, making clear of everything around him, silently scolding himself for not helping Iceheart after he could sense Ky's fear scent. Ears perked to full alertness now, he nudged Nightwalker in the side. "Lead the way." he said to him, taking a few steps backward to give him his space, all the while dancing form paw to paw, eager to bring down this deer. He raised his amber orbs to search the trees where it escaped from, but saw no movement, nor could he hear much sound coming from the woods there, except the hoot of owls behind them. Everything else was muffled by the white snow falling from the sky again, with the darkness that fell over the landscape now that the the sun had gone from their sight. Keovi took another look back at the clearing, where shadows from the trees covered any ways of seeing inside. I'll be back soon... He thought, his whole stature falling still while he lost focus for a moment, thinking of his dear mate. 'Good luck!' Takara's voice rang in his head, snapping him out of the trance. 'Thanks, and err you two?' All he got in reply was a grunt from Takara. 'Sorry, but Iceheart's hurt, and Kuna can come with you.' He tried to reassure her.

Takara started looking along the ground for sticks once she changed form back into a pine marten. She picked up a few tiny ones in her aposable paws and held them up to Ky. " Will these do?" She asked, whiskers twitching. They were about the length of her tail, about the width of her claws, with some bends in a few.

Kia hesitated, not knowing what to do. She had no idea how to use herbs, but she remembered the water trick from before. "Okay," she said quickly, turning and running to the nearby trees. She scraped the fresh snow away from the ground and searched for moss. It apparently was hard to find in winter, but, after some searching, she finally found some. She gathered the moss between her teeth and hurried over to the lake's edge. She lowered her head and soaked the moss with the ice cold water, then turned and ran back to Iceheart's den. "Here," she said, dropping the soaked mass on the ground in front of the white wolf.

Koda's nightmare ended with a last glance at the swirling water, circling him as if intent on eating him like prey. He swallowed once, tasting salt, and then his eyes opened quickly. He looked around the den and could tell that Koara and Anaya were also dreaming because of their moving paws. The fur on the back of his neck stood straight up in anxiousness about what he had seen.

His worried gaze looked at his inoccent sisters, and his brow furrowed, searching his mind for an explanation. Koda almost pleaded to himself that his 'power' wasn't water, but something else. It had to be something else. What if one day the water took over and he wasn't able to control it? His mind seemed full of mist just thinking about it because of the lack of sleep he was getting. Gwin had sat on his back by now and curled up in her mouse form.

Koda layed back down, intending on just resting his head to be able to think more, but then his consiousness drifted off and he was off to sleep.

Delila squeaked a thanks from atop Nightwaker's head, the two had been working hard with this trick they came up with. Delila would be his eyes and let helping him maneuver around things he couldn't on his own. Nightwalker nodded his head and placed his nose to the ground and began to follow the scent. he wasn't going to loss this deer Iceheart was going to need some food to keep up her strength. he focused only on the deers trail forgetting any other scents and noise around him. Delila would warn him if she saw anything.

Kuna decided to stay by Takara. He followed her as she walked around. He wondered why she was picking up sticks.
" What are we doing," Kuna asked.

Mudpelt came back into the den when she had finished telling Kia. She watched confusedly as Kia rushed to get water that Mudpelt had just got.
" I already got her water," Mudpelt said.

Kia's ears went flat and she turned to the brown wolf before her. "You did?" she asked, her shoulders sagging. She didn't know what else to bring. She had no idea what kind of herbs Iceheart needed, but she couldn't just stand here and do nothing. "Iceheart, what do the herbs look like?" she asked frantically, wanting to help however she could.

" Its fine. Things are kind of hectic right know. Hey, if you go and make sure my pups don't get out I'll help Iceheart," Mudpelt explained. She saw the herbs that Iceheart had chewed up and guesses these needed to be consumed.
" Iceheart which ones do I need to start with," Mudpelt asked calmly.

Takara's tail curled around her hind feet as she turned around to Kuna, lifting her pile of sticks slightly. "Kyota needs two sticks for Iceheart. Keovi told us to help since he had to go with Nightwalker/" She explained, looking around the ground again, and brushing away snow with her open paw. " Everything under the snow's all wet.." She complained, searching herself for an answer as she dropped the tiny pile of twigs she had aside. Oh, right, the trees... She told herself as her gaze drifted up into the bare branches of the trees beside the lake. She pawed at Kuna, and pointed at the tree. " Theres sticks. Ky, we can climb up, you tell us what to get, kay? " She said, turning back to Iceheart's anima, nodding towards the trees.

"Hah! No deer gets away from these wolves." Keovi barked, trotting enthusiastically behind Nightwalker as he trailed the scent of blood towards whre it dissapeared through the trees. Keovi fell silent as he perked his ears to try and catch any sounds that might hint towards where the deer had ran to. Besides the sound of their paws in the fresh snow, he could hear Takara and Kuna's voice fading behind him. The snow started to fall harder now, with the sky being completely gray, and clouds obscuring the stars. He looked up into the sky, trying to figure out what time it really was, which was difficult with no visible stars anymore, yet the white snow seem to be as clear as day, as it did the nights before, lighting up the ground and trees. The wolf's muzzle dropped back to steady itself ahead, watching the black wolf's feet in front of him. it almost felt releiving to be the one following again, but with the crack of a twig, his thoughts were directed away from that. Oh, just a marten.. He told himself, watching a curious pine marten like takara, jumping from branch to branch, watching him back just as curiously.

Kia hesitated and gave a quick nod. She turned and exited the den, just to enter another. Nothing could be seen in the dimly lit den, but she could hear and scent the pups further along. She followed the trail leading in the den and settled herself beside a small furry form. It was too dark to see which pup this was, but she suspected they were all asleep anyway so she assumed it didn't matter. She faintly wondered where Zio was; last she saw him he was in her den with Iceheart.

Kuna nodded and jumped up the tree as a jaguar. His claws duck deep into the stiff, cold, bark. He clambered upwards until he came to a promising branch. He could see at the far end of the branch there were a few short, but dry, sticks. Kuna stepped out on the branch not even thinking about what his weight as a heavy jaguar would do to the thin, flimsy branch.
Kuna soon found that he couldn't feel anything under him. In the same second he plummeted to the frozen earth below.

Kuna had climbed a fair deal up, and so he got over the shock and quickly trasformed into a hawk. Even though he had been able to turn into a hawk, that still didn't mean he was able to fly straight. He faltered trying to get his balance and his head. It was just at that moment that he flew head long into a nearby tree. Kuna's head hit with a low thud. This time he fell to the ground without changing. Luckily, there had been a snow bank at the base of the tree, so he wasn't harmed when he hit the ground. Shaken yes, but injured, no. Kuna stood up, already having reverted to his normal form as a fawn. He shook the snow off his back, and the fuzziness from his mind. He smiled embarrasedly at the others. What a fool I've made of myself, he thought.

"It's okay Zia" Iceheart soothed "We needed both. Turning to Mudpelt, she said "These and these" She pointed to the correct ones with her paw. Her leg had swollen up to three times it size, and was now beginning to go down. She prodded Snowest with her nose. "Are you okay?" she questioned. If Snowest couldn't talk, she was probably to far gone.


Kyota changed into a cat quickly, and nodded his thanks. Iceheart would have t bear the pain a little longer. He turned to Takara. "Yes those would be good, but maybe a little longer. We have to immobilize as much of her leg as possible. But if we can find reeds, we need those. And we need lots of cobwebs."

He streaked up a tree bordering the forest, and scanned the lake close by. "Maybe there's some reeds down by the lake" He called down to Takara. When Kuna fell he winced. "Are you okay?" he asked. He was now able to trust Takara and Kuna, and now there was a kindness in his voice instead of a stubborn pride.

Icehart winced as Kyota ran. She knew she couldn't take it much longer. But she must take care of this female, who had, a few days earlier, despised. It was in the code somewhere...... she mentally nipped herself for thinking of warriors, but she was drawn to her past like a cat to a mouse.

" Kuna!" Takara winced as he hit the tree, and in a few seconds she had bounded to his side, searching him for injuries before he stood, and she backed up a few pawsteps. " Are you okay?" She said, her tiny voice ladden with worry. Once he returned to his normal form, she breathed a ssigh of releif, ending it with a little laugh. " Be careful! You had me worried." She raised a small paw and used her claws to gently fix some fur that was sticking up on his shoulder. With Kyota's voice she remembered the sticks. " Oh right, okay I'll get some this time." She said, casting a humored glance over at Kuna. " Kyota, grab some sticks you need up there, We can find some reeds, I don't think Kuna can hurt himself there. " She said, bounding through the snow to the edge of the lake, where the edge of the water was already frozen. She poked at it with her paw, withdrawing from the icy chill sent up her arm when it cracked, seeping freezing water through it. She shook off the water and stood back to look at the lake more widely, and soom spotted some tall plants further down it's bank.

A gust of wind suddenly made the tiny marten wince agaisnt flying snow. Her fur turned white not from her changing, but from the snow that had started to fall even thicker, blanketing everything around the lake. Takara opened her eyes to try to see through it to the patch of reeds she saw, and could barely make it out through the storm. But where dark shadow appeared in the distnace, she could just see the ripples of the lake skate across it's surface in the wind, bring with it more snow to cover the banks. She looked back to the tree Kyota was in, and could barely see his snow white form, yet Kuna stood out still, being brown like she was. " Let's hurry up! I doubt it will get any better tonight, by morning maybe. " She had to raise her voice through the muffling effect of the snow, as she made her way through the snow, forced to change into a larger white cat like Kyota just so her belly didn't drag in the snow.

Snowest twitched as Iceheart poked her. "Wha...?" Snowest said, her coughing wasent so bad now, then she felt somthing in her mouth. She swalowed it. Just then Jack burst in, "Whats wrong!?" he almost screamed. Hearing Jack caused Snowest's eyes to open groggilly, "Hey,...Jack." she said trying to calm him down. Then she turned her head to Iceheart, "I should leave, Im... in your, den..." Snowest struggled to stand and Jack helped her up.

Iceheart stood on three legs slowly and pushed her back down. "no, your not well. Sit and let me treat you. You too Jack." She flopped down, and let out a yelp at her leg touching the ground. "And then me" she muttered. "Let Mudpelt give you the herbs" she ordered.

Kyota nodded. He gently bit off the twigs, and sauntered back to the safety of the main branch. He jumped from limb to limb on his way down, and fell into step beside Takara. "Your right" he added. He shook off the heavily falling snow, and padded on to the reeds.

Kuna followed Takara, still embarrased. How could I have been so stupid, Kuna thought. He changed into a horse, so he wouldnt sink into the snow.
" Lets get home. I want to get warm," Kuna said shivering.

Mudpelt rushed to get the herbs that she had prepared for Snowest. She grabbed one of the herb pulps and opened Snowest mouth.
" You ahve to swallow this ,Snowest," Mudpelt said softly. She put the pulp in her mouth.

Takara hopped over the snow, trying to stay in the tracks Ky left behind him but stopped let Kuna catch up. " Ya, It is getting cold again, I want to get out of the wind.. Hurry up and get a few reeds, I'll help carry as much I can." She called out from behind him on the snowy back of the lake, cautiously taking a few steps ahead gain, not wanting to misjudge it and step onto ice. Another gust of wind knocked takara one way, then jerked the other way, unsteadying her paws. He placed a paw off the tracks into fresh snow to keep herself from falling. He fur was fluffier than usual, and her tail had wrapped itself against her. He drew all her paws close to her again, shaking off the snow first however. 'Are you okay?' She asked Keovi through her thoughts, suddenly aware at how bad it must be in the darker forest.
'We're fine.' He told her back, looking back through the trees to where he suspected they were, but could see or hear nothing. In the bare forest, there was still enough cover to make it a lot darker, but it shielded the wolves from much wind or snow as well. The male shook his whole frame, powdered white showering off him to reveal his dark fur. " This deer better be close. " He growled, starting to get annoyed by the change in weather, and he showed it by bristling his fur and stopping onto the ground carelessly. He was careful though, to stay in the trail left by Nightwalker, just a few pawsteps ahead of him, only breaking the trail to maneuver around a fallen tree or stump. He opened his maw now, blowing into the frosty air, and at first only a frozen cloud came from his mouth, but then it turned into a warm, and powerful gust of wind, blowing and melting away snow in front of them both, but ruffling the black fur on Nightwalker's rump. " Sorry." He muttered, waving his tail behind him to instead create a small swirl of warm air to shield then from nature's wind. He continued to play around with his own breath, turning the snow ahead of him into rain just before it hit the ground and letting a wolfish smile spread across his maw at it. He glanced up into the trees again, disappointed to find his marten friend had left, probably to find shelter from the wind.

Kyota nodded and bounded to the edge of the lake. He had many experiences with things like this, so he knew what to do. He skidded to a halt at the edge of the lake, which he felt under his sensitive paws. He cautiously put one paw out onto the ice, and feeling nothing happen, another paw. He continued in this way until he reached the reeds. His leg was throbbing like one big bundle of fire had scorched it, but he pushed on. "Iceheart must be in agony" he murmered to himself. He delicately nipped off eight of the reeds, and inched back to shore.

The tom wearily collapsed into the fluffy snow. "I can't walk any farther" he explained. "Or fly. The snow is going to hard." His blue eyes were dulled with pain, but a glimmer of defiance and hope sparked up. "But we need to get cobwebs to bind the leg together." Kyota sighed "Just leave me here, and come back for me later, or I ride on your head as a mouse or ferret." He let out a yowl. "Iceheart must have moved or something" he explained to the other animas with a small grin. At least Iceheart is okay.

Kuna left the group to go down to the lake. This time, he made sure he changed into a doormouse before touching the fragile ice. It was startingly cold; it made Kuna draw his paw back. But he knew that Iceheart need the reeds, so he pushed on. He tried to grab some reeds, but his small mouse mouth wasn't strong enough to nip off the stems. Kuna suddenly turned into a hawk and, with his beak, snapped off the stems of the reeds.
Kuna flew back to the other. What was Kyota doing laying in the snow, Kuna wondered. He landed solidly on the snow. Kyota couldn't go on because of the pain that Iceheart and him were sharing. Kuna dropped his reeds
" Kyota, change into a mouse and I'll hold you as a moutain lion. Takara, do you think you could hold my reeds too," Kuna said already in the form of the giant cat.

" Oh ya, sure." She murmured, slightly disappointed at Kyota's sudden impaired leg. She changed into a raccoon and gathered up the reeds neatly, holding them in one paw while she moved the other through the snow to make sure she hadn't forgot any. " I'll run these to camp, I can help with cobwebs too. " She moved now towards the sticks and put them with the reeds as well. As she turned in place through the snow, she swiftly changed form into a gray fox, with the reeds and sticks in her jaws, and ran back around the lakes edge until she saw the familiar bushes and trees positioned around their clearing. She slowed to a trot, ears perked and eyes watching th clearing for signs of life. She stopped once she reached the ring of dens and laid the materials for Iceheart in the snow in front of her and looked back up again, scenting the air.
The scents of Mudpelt, Iceheart, and Kia were fresh on the air, and by a sudden noise and yelp inside Iceheart's den, she knew where she was. She made her way wearily over to her den, reeds and sticks in jaw, and set them directly in the entrance. " Iceheart, heres some sticks and reeds, were getting cobwebs now." She barked into the den and turned tail to run back through her previous trail back to the lake, still a fox.

Snowest didnt push against Iceheart when she pushed her down. When Iceheart yelped it startled Snowest and she looked at Iceheart questioningly, "Whats, wrong?" she asked warily.

Jack fumed in defiance silently, "I dont feel sick at all, well maybe alittle." he thought to Snowest. All he got in resopnce was, "Shutup." Jack was tempted to try to drag Snowest away but he knew he would fail and he might hurt her more. Jack turned into a ferret and draped himself across Snowest's face.

Nightwalker was moving slowly keeping his nose the ground to follow the deer's scent. it shouldn't be to much longer before they found it, it shoulld be tireing out by know and trying to find a place to rest. though there was a slight problem since the wind picked back up it had been throwing him off a bit. but Delila kept him on track by watching its footprints, but the snow was starting to cover them up, so soon he would have to just go by scent alone. it didn't help that Keovi was starting to complain like a pup he wasn't the only one that was cold. he also seemed to be getting bord, he could hear wind swirling around Keovi as they moved on.

suddenly Nightwalker heard what sounded like something walking in the snow it couldn't have Keovi since the sound came from infront of him. he came to a complete stop and moved his ears forward to better hear the sound, "Delila can you see what it is?" Delila tried to look past the falling snow but could see nothing, "no i don't see anything its snowing too hard."

"Uff, why'd you.. oh." Keovi said quietly, bumping his nose into the wolf in front of him before realizing he might have heard something. He pushed himself up on his toes to see over the black wolf's frame, through the snow ahead. As he stood quiet he could just pick up the sound of movement ahead, like something crunching through the snow. " Does it smell close? That might be it..." He whispered, standing stock-still now with his ears perked. Wait a sec... A thought struck him as he looked up through the trees to the dark sky above, without moving his head. It should help. He told himself, using his control over wind to silence the violent gusts of wind brushing the top of the trees. No more whistling through the branch could be heard, but snow still fell steadily down, still making it hard to se that much farther ahead, but not that it was quieter, Keovi could hear it's steps clearly now, and his pupils dilated as his heart race quickened. His paws itched to give chase now, after finally feeling the success of winning a hunt against a larger animal than rabbits for once. He was thinking of the now-rotted elk they had hunted nights before, when weather was slightly better.

Nightwalker could feel that the wind had died down, it must have been Keovi's doing. with the wind stopped it was much easier to scent what was ahead of them. he breath in the scent and quickly identified what they were following as the deer he had been tracking all this time the scent of blood was was still fresh its earlyer wounds, "Keovi i think you can take the lead from here it smells close this could be the deer we have been tracking."
